Conquer the World with the Perfect Lipstick

Lipstick is a powerful tool that ignites a confidence boost when worn.

We all want that long-wear lipstick that stays on while we eat, drink and go about our day, without having to worry about how it looks.

Prep Your Pout

Having moisturised lips is the first step. If you have chapped lips, they may need to be exfoliated. Use a lip scrub to get rid of the dead skin and apply lip balm after. Your lips will be soft and plump.

TIP: A simple way to exfoliate would be to apply Vaseline and gently scrub your lips in circles with an old toothbrush.

Get In Line

As we grow older, our lips tend to shrink and lose their original shape. Using a lip-liner helps to map out the shape of your lips and keep your lipstick from smudging.

Get a lip-liner that is one shade darker than your national lip colour, or a shade lighter or darker than your lipstick. Pat off any excess moisture from your lips with a tissue and draw around the line of your lips. You can slightly overline it to make it appear fuller, but don’t overdo it.

Fill in the inside of your lips with the same liner. This acts as a base for your lipstick and helps it to stay put all day without feathering into fine lines and accentuating any wrinkles.

Check out lip-liners from brands like NYX, Rimmel, MAC, Urban Decay, NARS, and Charlotte Tilbury, which have hydrating and long-lasting formulas.

Pucker Up

Even if you’re not a makeup lover, wearing a lipstick is a simple product that can brighten up your face.

It may take some trial and error until you find the ones that give you that lovely pop of colour and make you feel attractive.

It is especially important to look for formulas that are smooth and moisturising to your lips.
