Discover Great Queensland Road Trips
There’s something exhilarating about jumping in the car or caravan and going on an adventure. Road trips give you the perfect opportunity to sit back, relax, and travel at your own pace to discover Queensland’s many experiences, must-see locations, and events.
Start Off With:
The fantastic beaches of the Gold Coast. As you move north, there is so much to see and do in Queensland, you will want to make sure to take your time and stop at each destination along the way.
Then Travel Inland
While many travellers would stick to the coast, it is well worth a drive inland as well, to visit such great spots as Millmerran and Mundubbera. Enjoy the natural beauty and wonderful produce of rural Queensland. You will be able to reconnect with nature and also visit some excellent historical sites.
Drive up to a real hidden gem, Tin Can Bay, which is on the Cooloola Coast and just a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Brisbane, or a little longer if you decide to stop off.
Check Out the Wildlife
From Tin Can Bay to Mackay is a full day’s drive, so enjoy some fantastic fine dining in Mackay before waking up bright and early the next day to make the 40-minute trip to Cape Hillsborough National Park. The changes are pretty high for getting a really close look at the wildlife there.
Hit the Beach
Airlie Beach is less than a two-hour drive away from Mackay and you can swim, fish, cruise, or relax by the waterside. Use Airlie as your hopping-off point to the Whitsundays.
Along to Rockhampton, which is like the capital of Central Queensland. You can also get to Great Keppel Island from here. Located on the Capricorn Coast, accessible from Yeppoon, Keppel Bay is home to some of the most diverse, outstanding natural beauty on the East Coast of Australia.
Finish your great Queensland road trip in Cairns and Tropical North QLD.
