Great Things to Do on The Gold Coast

The hub of tourist activity on the east coast of Australia is undoubtedly the Gold Coast. From pristine beaches to rainforests, early-morning markets to late-night gourmet restaurants, and all the entertainment and festivals you could ask for, there is no better place to spend a weekend or holiday.

Feel the sand shift beneath your toes and the sunshine on your face with a visit to one of the coast’s many beaches. Coolangatta in the south of Queensland is beautiful from sun-up to sun-down, with plenty of nearby parking and accommodation as well as delicious places to grab a bite to eat. Have a swim here or try your hand at surfing at The Spit, or the aptly named Surfers Paradise. The invigorating fresh air will have you up and out early, and you can spend the day in the water, or at one of the varied stores a short walk from the beachfront.

Experience another world with the lush rainforest of Tamborine Mountain a short drive in-land from the coast. With trees that shoot up high into the sky and cover you with their protective canopy, it is an enchanting experience. Be adventurous and take a hot air balloon ride over the mountain, or trek on foot through one of the numerous world heritage and national parks including Springbrook National Park and Lamington National Park.

If you are up early, most weekends you can find a community market with stalls including arts and crafts, clothes, music, fruits, and vegetables, and so much more. Follow it up with a browse at the boutiques and eateries at Sanctuary Cove or Marina Mirage. Not an early riser? That’s OK. Sanctuary Markets at Currumbin Sanctuary begins at 4pm every Friday and runs until 9pm. Add to it all the live music and you have got yourself a night to remember.

Treat yourself to a night out with a restaurant or tavern guaranteed to satiate whatever you have a taste for. Dine on rich delicacies before heading to the Home of the Arts (HOTA) or The Star to see a performance that will enrapture you.

Let the beauty of the Gold Coast draw you in and entertain you with its natural beauty and charm.
