Happy Stories, Happy Living

At Aveo retirement villages, life is about spending more time doing the things you love, not about slowing down. Our residents enjoy an active lifestyle like Aveo Durack resident, Jenny Dale.

“I Love Life at Aveo Durack, it Makes Me Happy”

“I love to sketch, so I enjoy spending an hour or so getting creative in the arts and crafts room. I also love to explore the local area so every Tuesday my friends and I visit the local shopping centres on the village bus; I especially like to visit Inala Shopping Centre as it has my favourite stores. Afterwards, we go to the local fishing club to enjoy a steak burger and coffee for lunch”. While regular outings are a large part of Jenny’s week, she also has a very active social life within the village. Our village has a strong community presence so there are plenty of clubs and communities planning activities throughout the village. I am part of a coffee club, along with 10 of my friends and we meet a couple of times a week at 3 pm in the dining room. We have a great time chatting and I love to play the organ”. “I love life at Aveo Durack, it makes me happy and I have made so many new friends here”.

The “Then & Now” Story of Long Time Residents

Phil & Dorothy moved into their villa at Tranquil Waters on 27 February 2002. They said then “Tranquil Waters is the perfect location for a wonderfully relaxed retirement lifestyle”. Both Phil & Dorothy immediately set about making sure they and the other residents enjoyed all the wonderful facilities available at that time.

Phil & Dorothy say, “we’ve had some great times over the years” and that, “you can’t beat the fabulous location, great social atmosphere, time to do what we want to do. There is no mowing, gardening, house repairs, we just enjoy ourselves. There is always something to do and someone to do it with,  safe and secure, share a joke or a chat with friendly staff”. Phil adds “did I say, not having to mow the lawn?”

Fourteen years on Phil & Dorothy say “we know our dreams have come true, and you can’t beat the many and varied facilities and lifestyle of the village, with the knowledge that care services are available when needed.”

We Both Enjoy Excellent Entertainment

My name is Ted Brown, my wife Rose and I have been happy residents of Renaissance for several years. In 2008 we decided to move to a retirement village and we chose Renaissance because it had so much more to offer, such as entertainment and other activities like lawn bowls, croquet, heated swimming pool, plus it is a short easy walk to a major shopping centre and bus terminal. We decided on a ‘Coochie’ style villa because we like the size, plus the large rear awning which covers the garden courtyard – which we use for entertaining visitors and family. We both enjoy excellent entertainment organised by the Residents Association and we join in as many activities as we can. The main appeal of the village is the friendship of the residents and staff.

Living here is like living in a luxury holiday resort, but better. With so much to do at the village, our family have to make an appointment to see us.

Creativity Keeps Us Young

Fred Green, resident at The Lakes, Bundaberg is 86 years young and keeps himself that way through regular art and painting groups and has been known to exhibit in Queensland and South Australia. Participation in the arts and creative pursuits has been proven to have a positive impact on health and wellbeing, improving quality of life for those who wish to remain fit and well.
Fred believes that his regular commitment to his own creativity is beneficial to his happiness and wellbeing “Painting is great for my hand-eye coordination and gives me the opportunity to interact with others. Most importantly, it keeps me active.’’ “All the activities here at The Lakes also contribute to the overall sense of community. It’s what makes this village such a special place,” says Mr. Green.
