Location & Design are Critical for Over 50s Lifestyle Living

The tag line of “Lifestyle” is now an established option for the over 50s market and is leading to lifestyle based location decisions amongst developers. This applies to both the resort style over 50s living options and also for the upmarket vertical living residences.

Favourite locations for the expansive village style of format include next to water or in a golf course. Take for instance the Palm Lake Resort Tweed River in Banora Point, set on several hectares of river front land offering waterfront living, private marina berths, jetties, pontoons, and boat ramps.

If urban living is your lifestyle choice, then it appears that the vertical living option has a lot to offer. Prime city centre sites that could cater for a retirement village are simply not available or would make the costs prohibitive. Vertical living makes living in prime city locations possible because it has a small footprint. The space needed is far less than landed property.

Take for example Serene Living’s site. It is situated just opposite the Tweed Heads Bowls Club greens, offering very easy access to sporting facilities, a hospital, a major shopping centre, very easy access to the sea and everything that the town has to offer.

Instead of location and design being determined by cost as was the case in the past, both location and design are increasingly being determined by the preferences of the over 50s themselves who are looking for a particular lifestyle, whether it be urban, hinterland or waterfront.
