Visiting Cairns? Great Places and Amazing Experiences

If you are visiting Cairns, you should know that this amazing destination is blessed with being the home to two of the world’s most precious and pristine natural wonders: the World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics Rainforest, and the well-known Great Barrier Reef.

Popular with both international and national travellers who visit Cairns year after year to participate in conferences and sporting events, it has well and truly made a name for itself as the place to be.

There is so much to see and do in beautiful Cairns you will be coming back again and again.

Explore the bountiful botanic gardens. Tag along on a tour or go through it at your own pace and pleasure. Spend the whole day, with colourful birds keeping you entertained for hours, and recharging at the cafe.

Want to get out and about in nature and be stunned by the majestic views? Head to Mt Whitfield Conservation Park, a 300ha forested mountain range with rainforest, eucalyptus, and grasslands. There are four walking tracks to choose from, so you can pick the perfect one for your level of fitness.

Spend an afternoon lazing by the Esplanade Lagoon, with free entry and wheelchair accessibility so no one is left out. Depending on the season, there can be stingers and crocodiles in the sea , but don’t despair – you can swim year-round in the safe, stinger and crocodile-free area.

When visiting Cairns, remember to soak up local, national, and international musicians and stage performances, as well as an art gallery at Tanks Arts Centre.

These are just a few of the great adventures on offer in beautiful Cairns. While predominately established for local residents, visitors are more than welcome to enjoy the libraries, cultural facilities, water park, playgrounds, patrolled beaches, sports grounds, walking and cycling tracks, and take part in free exercise classes, lectures, and talks.
